There’s a new coffee shop in town… Or rather, on the rails.

Leafy Bean has opened inside Bowes Park railway station, selling delicious coffee, tea and pastries to travellers and anyone else that wants to drop by. Laura and the team have done a great job of creating a lovely space out of a dusty old storage room.

Check out their Twitter profile here and do pop in to see them!

Bowes Park’s very own award winning community market turns out again on Sunday October 1st, with the usual array of fresh meat, organic bread, fruit and veg, locally brewed beer, crafts and artisans, vintage and bric-a-brac. It’s all happening 11am-4pm.

Word has reached us that the community fundraising drive for Shaftesbury Hall is complete, with the funds now exceeding the target of £15,000! Well done and thanks to everyone who supported this.

The North London Samaritans, who own Shaftesbury Hall, tell us there are one or two more big grant applications to go, to sit alongside the green light already received from the Big Lottery. If all goes to plan, the work on the redeveloping the Hall should begin early next year.

You may have seen some strange happenings on Myddleton Road this month, including various shops briefly being dressed up as takeways! Well, it was all to allow for a film crew to takeover part of the street for a day, although we are sworn to secrecy as to what was being filmed! It will all become clear soon enough.

Anyway, here’s a tweet from Hot Milk Cafe that captured the goings on:
