Winter Festival

It’s back!

From 12pm-5pm on Sunday 2nd December, the annual Myddleton Road Winter Festival returns, brought to you by Myddleton Road Market and We Love Myddleton Road.

So what’s in store? A Christmas market, fun fair rides, bars, live music, kids’ crafts, a Santa’s Grotto. Live music at Renaissance Music comes courtesy of the London Metropolitan Brass, Bowes Park Community Choir and ATS Sings. The big switch-on of the Christmas lights will be at 4pm. And there’ll be Christmas trees for sale!

Shaftesbury Hall… for rent!

It’s done! After all the fundraising, the building work and grant applications, Shaftesbury Hall on Herbert Road is finished, and ready to take its place as Bowes Park’s community hall.

This means the Hall is available to the local community to rent, whether for children’s parties, dance classes or anything else.

If you’d like to find out more, drop a line to Nadia by clicking here, and do spread the word about this great new facility.

Renaissance Cafe

The new café at Renaissance Music is now open, and serving breakfast, brunch, lunch and evening nibbles, with their own roasted coffee, wine and beers from Bohem Brewery. Paul and the gang are also planning regular Thursday-night jazz, and on Monday 10th December a new writers’ workshop night is being launched – email here to find out more.

Other stuff happening

There are lots of other things happening on the street to see out the year. The Phoenix Collective are back at The Step on 8th December, where there’s also a Christmas Sing-a-long on Sunday 23rd and the final quiz on 19th December. There’s also plenty going on over at Leafy Bean Cafe including the monthly book club, coffee morning and some more evening openings featuring gin, cider and wine - drop them a line to find out more.

Everyone is delighted about the new space available at Shaftesbury Hall, but it’s important not to overlook what it means for the Hall’s owners: North London Samaritans. The new Shaftesbury Hall gives them a long-overdue modern home to do their work.

See you soon!
